Civilization 3 Conquests FAQ Civilization III: Conquests - Frequently Asked Questions: What is the status of the Civilization III: Conquests expansion? The game is finishing up final testing and development work, and is on track to be released for the PC at the end of October, 2003 in North America, and at the beginning of November throughout the rest of the world. What can we expect from Civilization III: Conquests? With Civilization III: Conquests we have recreated some of the most exciting and critical moments in the history of mankind! Nine new conquests are included, beginning with Mesopotamia and leading all the way up to World War II. Each Conquest is fully customized to their historical setting including new tech trees, civilizations, map features, wonders and units, and provides players with new Civ gameplay challenges and surprises - you'll find locked alliances in the World War II Conquest, volcanoes, rain forests and special abilities like stealth attack and ritual sacrifice in the Mesoamerica Conquest and the Enkidu Warrior and the Three-Man Chariot in the Mesopotamia Conquest. These conquests offer a faster-paced Civ experience and challenge players to employ new strategies and tactics. In addition to these conquests we have also added a lot to the core game with 7 new civs, 2 new civ types, new wonders, more government types, and even two new difficulty levels. So essentially, there's something for every Civ fan in this expansion! For more information, see the Civilization III: Conquests - Features Page. Who is publishing Civilization III: Conquests? Atari (formerly Infogrames Interactive) will be publishing this product. How has the Epic Game changed for Civ Conquests? Civilization III: Conquests introduces over 250 changes to the standard Epic Game. These include new Wonders of the World, city specialists, governments, civ attributes, disasters, unit abilities, interface changes, game options, and victory conditions. How many Civ tribes can be played in the epic game? Players can choose any one of the sixteen original tribes, the eight Play the World tribes, or the seven Civ Conquests tribes, for a total of thirty-one playable civilizations. What are the Conquest scenarios? Unlike the Epic Game, each Conquest scenario focuses on a specific period of history, such as the Rise of Rome, the Middle Ages, or the Napoleonic War. Each Conquest has its own map, tech tree, specialized units, playable civilizations, and victory conditions. Several Conquests include predetermined starting city and unit placements so that you are placed immediately into the action. How many Conquest scenarios are included in the game? There are nine full Conquest scenarios in the game, covering periods of history from early Mesopotamia to World War II in the Pacific. Three shorter tutorial conquests are also included. What do the Conquest scenarios add to the Civ experience? Each Conquest is a self-contained adventure that reinvents the Civ experience within the context of one period of history. They each bring new strategies, tough decisions, and a different feel to the game. Some favor straight-out war, while others emphasize diplomacy. Some require constant expansion; in others, it is all about culture. In total, the Conquests provide: Over 85 new technologies Over 50 new units Over 60 new buildings and wonders 30 new resources More than 8 new governments Are features from the Conquest scenarios available in the main game? Since the Conquests are self-contained, many technologies, units, civilizations, and other features can be found only in a specific Conquest. For instance, the Sengoku Conquest features many Japanese structures, technologies, and other cultural icons specific to that time and place. That said, many features created for the Conquests were brought over to the Epic Game. Examples include abilities such as enslavement and stealth attacks, wonders such as the Knights Templar and the Statue of Zeus, and the unique units for each of the new civilizations. Can the editor be used to create new conquest scenarios? Yes. In fact, all of the new features introduced in Civ Conquests can be replicated or modified by the editor, so you can create your own complex scenarios. What are the system requirements for the game?
